| Nontuberculous Mycobacteria (NTM) and HIV/AIDS Patients
Nontuberculous Mycobacteria is considered an opportunistic disease
for those who are currently living with HIV/AIDS.
Risk for NTM infection is significantly increased
in HIV patients due to their suppressed auto-immune
system.
Nontuberculous Mycobacteria and Tuberculosis (TB) account for
the majority of deaths in HIV/AIDS patients. Monthly
testing and monitoring may help lower the risk
of infection and may help prevent infections from
spreading to untreatable levels.
Designer
Diagnostics Test Kits are designed for the
rapid identification of NTM infections. The Test
Kits are capable of identifying NTM infections
within a week, as compared to the month long diagnosis
currently available with traditional methods.
Although
NTM is an opportunistic infection associated with
HIV/AIDS patients, lowering the risk of acquiring
a NTM infection can be achieved by seeking monthly
testing by a trained medical professional. |
